The unit will be assessed through the rubrics provided below. When the task is presented to the class, the teacher will assess each task and fellow students will assess some of the tasks.

Task 1 - Celebrate a culture.

The teacher will assess this task. The teacher is looking for: Group work; information content; appropriateness of demonstration; and cultural understanding.







Task 2 – Family Recipe


The teacher will assess this task. Students will work individually to complete this task. They will work on this task in their own time throughout the entire unit. Students will have the opportunity to edit their final presentation during the final week of the unit.







Task3 – Indigenous Languages


Each group and the teacher will assess this task. Students will work in their groups throughout the task and will present a final lesson to the class. This task requires students to spend two weeks planning, researching, implementing and presenting the finished piece.











Task 4 - Immigration

Each group and the teacher will assess each article. Students will work in their groups throughout the task and will present their finished article to the class. This task will require students to spend two weeks planning, researching, implementing and putting together their final article.









Task 5 - If Australia were a village......


This task will be assessed by the teacher. The teacher will be looking at: the categorisation of countries/religions/languages; effective use of technology; and team work.







Task 6 - Racism
The teacher will assess this task. The teacher will be looking for: signs of comprehension of this topic; and work presentation.

Print this out and paste it in your work-book beside the original mind-map. Reflect on what you have learned based on the difference between the two.
